Jerome Increase Case started his company in Rochester, Wisconsin in 1842. He soon moved to Racine, Wisconsin where he began to manufacture threshers. In 1953, J.I. Case accepted 3 partners to form J.I. Case & Company. Their Eagle Trademark, "Old Abe", was adopted in 1865 and is patterned after a bald eagle that served in the Civil War as a mascot.

The first Case farm tractor appeared on the scene in 1892. In 1953 the first Case diesel powered tractor appeared as a model 500. The 800 series came about in 1958 and featured the Case-O-Matic drive.

General Rule of thumb: Use the six point (parasol style) until the end of World War II. All metal parts are finished with a special baked epoxy covered with a baked aluminum enamel to provide resistance to rust.

From WWII on, we generally recommend the square units. Both the curved hanger and bent shaft units were produced and used by many tractor manufacturers. Both umbrellas feature yellow dichromate zinc plated tubular steel frame provides a corrosion resistant, durable finish. No painted parts.

Recently we have had many requests for the 40-inch 3 Bow Buggy style sunshade. The sturdy design features easy installation on tractors using home made, fender style or axle mounted brackets. Heavy gauge steel components withstand rugged field use and strong winds.
